JK Rowling has been teasing Potter fans with Quidditch World Cup updates written by none other than Ginny Weasley…
And today she has made us all squeal with excitement, as she has written a short story in the form of a newspaper article about our favourite Trio and their friends, otherwise known as Dumbledore’s Army.
Rita Skeeter, our favourite reporting illegal Animagus, has written an article for the Daily Prophet titled Dumbledore’s Army Reunites at Quidditch World Cup Final, and she is still bitchy as ever.
So what’s included?
Well, Harry is 33, about to turn 34 (July 31st of course). He has a VIP section with friends Hermione, Ron, Luna and Neville. The crowd are hopeful for a glimpse of The Chosen One.
Harry still has his round glasses. Could you imagine him without? And he also has a brand new scar on his cheek. He is an Auror, so there’s no doubt he got this new scar from some dark job.
Harry meets his old friend and Triwizard competitor, Viktor, who is competing in the final. Ron, who’s ginger hair has begun to thin, may not be too happy that Hermione’s old ‘flame’ is nearby.
Ron spent two years working at the Ministry of Magic, but left to co-own Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes with his brother, George. Oh Fred. Hermione, meanwhile, is Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Her and Ron have two kids, Hugo and Rose.
Neville, rumoured alcoholic, is teaching Herbology at Hogwarts, and is married, of course, to Hannah Abbott, who is now looking to become Matron at Hogwarts, too, after training to become a healer. They’ve moved out of The Leaky Cauldron.
And, a favourite of mine, is Luna Lovegood, who is parading around the VIP section wearing a robe made out of flags of all the sixteen qualifying country. She is married to Rolf Scamander, who everyone knows is the Grandson of Newt Scamander, who we will be seeing more of soon. She has twin sons.
It’s mentioned that other members of the DA are there – Dean, the Patil twins, Cho Chang!? – but they aren’t mentioned. Briefly mentioned are Bill and Fleur, who are still married. Charlie, who is still a dragon trainer and not married, though nobody knows why. Percy, who is Head of the Department of Magical Transportation.
Also, according to Skeeter, Teddy Lupin has become a bit of a ‘wild child’ and is getting off with Victoire, daughter of Bill and Fleur.
And, what made me laugh, was Rita’s final plug of her brand new book titled ‘Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob will be available July 31st. Let’s hope, then, that there’s some new content on Pottermore of that!
Seeing this world so effortlessly placed out before us has made me sad again that there will never be a new book. Rowling has it all thought out, and offering us this brief glimpse into adult life of Potter has made me want more.
