This is Ethan Wilwert, an 8-year-old from Florida who aspires to be a drag queen…
Ethan became passionate about drag make-up and wanted to learn how to do it when he saw artists such as Jeffree Starr. His mother, Season Wilwert, was incredibly supportive, and wanted her son to explore that part of himself.
Joey Killmeyer, a makeup artist from Flordia, had his first client in the form of 8-year-old Ethan.
Joey did up one half of Ethan’s face, whilst Etahn copied the design and did the other half.
In an exclusive interview with The Metro, Season said:
Ever since Ethan was little, he has always been interested in makeup. He would watch me get ready in the morning and would ask if he could apply my makeup. I shop at MAC, and one day the manager and Ethan got talking. She told him about the in-person tutorials that they offer, which would him him learn about application and technique. He begged to be able to attend a session because he wishes to be a makeup artist someday. One of his inspirations for drag makeup came from the YouTube videos of Jeffree Star.
Joey, who helped Ethan learn how to do his make-up, said on his Facebook page:
He did soooo great. He is a very talented guy. And I expect he will be a great artist in life. I was so touched that his mom said I gave him confidence in letting him be himself. It truly was meant to be that I worked today.
Joey also said that now he feels like people are becoming more open, and he loves that Ethan’s mother has allowed her son to do this.
Whether he is gay or not, who knows? But I really respect the mom who is letting him be himself, and discover who he is and what he wants to do in life.
Regarding Ethan’s sexuality, Season believes it is another form of creativity, and says that Ethan is just 8-years-old, and labelling it should not be a thing right now.
I support my son no matter what. I love him unconditionally. This is purely a form of artistic expression. I know some people will make it about gender identity or sexual preference; however, Ethan is only 8 years old. He is an actor, a performer… I am letting him explore his true passions and talents, whatever those may be.
